Published by Wayne State University Press, The Queen Next Door features stunning photographs of musical legend Aretha Franklin, taken by one of Aretha's closest friends, Linda Solomon. The photographs, some of them never before published, begin in 1983, when Aretha's first public concerts were starting to be featured in the local newspaper. It ends in 2018, when Aretha passed away in her hometown of Detroit, MI. The interior design balances the photography and alternating color spreads of cream, light pink, and light blue, pulled from the cover design.
